Robbie Knievel successfully executes death-defying left-turn onto 24th Street
GUADALUPE— Austinites were abuzz Tuesday morning as stunt devil Robbie Knievel attempted his most dangerous feat to date: an unprotected left-turn onto 24th Street from northbound Guadalupe. As Knievel circled the block waiting for the perfect wind speed and momentum to complete the stunt, Knievel addressed the crowd, “I’ve jumped over the Grand Canyon, the Luxor Palace, and 20 school buses, but for the first time in my career I can say that I’m physically and emotionally terrified.” Knievel then performed the turn in a 360-skid, nearly colliding with several Cap Metro buses before his vehicle performed a rollover, causing him to escape miraculously from the flaming wreckage. Despite Knievel’s massive head injuries, he is eagerly preparing for his next death-defying stunt. “My vehicle was impounded by PTS, but I’m already gearing up for my next stunt; I will successfully back out of Torchy’s Tacos.”
